Laurent Puons, CEO and Cécile Menoni, Executive Director of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, announced today at the leading Brach Hotel in Paris plans for the 62nd Edition of the prestigious event taking place June 16-20, 2023 in Monaco. Genie Godula, renowned Franco-American broadcast journalist, will host the opening ceremony on June 16, which will include the world premiere screening of the first episode of Harlan Coben’s Shelter, the introduction of the Fiction and News and Documentary juries, and an appearance by H.S.H. Prince Albert II. Rola Bauer, Head of Pan-English Scripted TV, Amazon Studios, announced the world premiere of Harlan Coben's Shelter, a Prime Video Original series based on the best-selling novel by global superstar author Harlan Coben, with the first episode to be screened in the stunning Salle Des Princes theatre. Harlan Coben’s Shelter follows the story of Mickey Bolitar after the sudden death of his father leads him to start a new life in Kasselton, New Jersey. Mickey quickly finds himself tangled in the mysterious disappearance of a new student at his school. Harlan Coben and Allen MacDonald serve as co-showrunners and executive producers with Ed Ornelas and Rola Bauer overseeing the series for the studio. Charlotte Coben is a producer, and Erik Barmack is also an executive producer. Patricia Cardoso served as director executive producer on the pilot. Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner John Goodman (Roseanne, Alpha House, Dancing on the Edge) will serve as the President of the Fiction Jury alongside fellow jurors Camilla Rydbacken, SVP Scripted Content, Viaplay, Sweden; Francesca Chillemi, Actress and Presenter, Italy; Frank Spotnitz, CEO and Executive Producer Big Light Productions, USA; Marcus Ammon, Managing Director Content, Bavaria Fiction, Germany and leading Australian actor Travis Fimmel. Peabody and Emmy Award-winning documentarian Tom Jennings has been named the President of the News and Documentaries Jury, which is made up of jury members Jeanette Larsson, Senior Editor and Producer, SVT Sweden; Aïda Touihri, journalist and presenter, RMC Story; José Carlos Gallardo, reporter, editor and director, Weekly Report; and British-Ghanaian presenter, creator and author Patrick Aryee. American Gods star Ricky Whittle and French videographer and celebrity influencer Léna Situations will be the masters of the glamorous Closing night Ceremony on Tuesday, June 20th. This evening will see The Honorary Golden Nymph Award, the Festival’s highest accolade bestowed upon a renowned professional for their extraordinary contribution to the entertainment industry, presented to acclaimed Hollywood producer and writer Howard Gordon (The X-Files, 24, Homeland, Accused). The award will be presented by Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco. Following the success of its Business Content strand last year, the 62nd edition of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival will see an extended Business Content programme. Experts from all areas of the global content business will join panels spanning a host of opportunities and challenges facing the international programming industry today.
